Shineray er et professionelt mærke, som laver Motorcykler, ATVer og Dirtbikes. De har vundet flere mesterskaber med deres maskiner inden for motocross, og er et anerkendt mærke. The SHINERAY XY250GY-2 MX is a dirt bike for the discerning customer who enjoys the feel of European handling with Japanese reliability. Known as the SHINERAY X2 this bike is being used in grueling 8 hour Enduro events in Sweden with great success and being able to cope with the high stresses of competition use here in Australia.

The chassis and steering geometry used are the same as that which has been used by KTM and the engine is very similar to Honda’s NX1-250 used in the Dominator Enduro. High quality FASTACE twin chamber USD forks are used up-front with 12 compression and rebound settings as well as a PDS remote reservoir rear shock with same adjustments.

The XY250GY-2 employs a high torque 4-valve DOHC Liquid cooled four stroke engine which develops 26 Hp @ the rear wheel at 8,500 rpm through a six speed manual transmission. The chassis is made from high strength chrome moly steel (Mn) designed specifically for competition use, as are the wheels and swing arm.

Standard features such as electric start make easy work of getting up and going after a fall or when stuck precariously half way up the side of a hill instead of having to use a kick starter; which is no easy feat. Another feature the SHINERAY X2 has which many dirt bike riders forget about, comes in handy on hot summer days and tight trails are thermatic fans which activate when water temp. exceeds 92 Celsius. This feature is not found on most dirt bikes and are frequently fitted as a after market accessory. Cattle musterers love this feature as there are many other dirt bikes that over heat under this type of use, however this is no problem for the X2.

The SHINERAY X2 250 has proven its self in the toughest of conditions travelling 7,000km to the tip of Cape York in the Road registerable Enduro model with water over the engine numerous times and no ignition cut out thanks to water proof electrical connections, this bike is truly an exceptionally well made product and backed by Zuma Motorcycles the exclusive Australian importer with 13 years experience and outstanding reputation for customer support and back up.

Shineray bought SWM (who stopped producing in 1983) in order to rejuvenate the company and recreate the same vision and the same passion for building high quality motorcycles with an Italian soul, in a state of the art headquarters and with the support of an experienced technical staff nurtured in a territory rich in motorcycle history and driven by a great motivation.

Shineray have also purchased a factory which includes the technology and products from Husqvarna. This Husqvarna factory used to belong to the BMW Group before its acquisition a few years ago by the KTM Group, who decided to stop the operations in Italy. As a result we acquired the technology for 10 KTM models.

Combining this factory, (strategically located in Lombardia) with SWM Motorcycles as a new Italian motorcycle Company inspired by the past, originated from the passion and the technical and industrial competence of Ampelio Macchi, who people know due to prestigious brands such as Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia

Q. What is the brand strategy behind the acquisition of SWM compared to the position of Shineray on the market?

A. The products designed and manufactured with SWM represent the high level product line, while the Shineray products manufactured in China are the middle and lower price motorcycles segments.

We will divide the strategy in two independent lines. In Europe we always will use our SWM brand, designing and commercializing in there. But in China, South America, Asia and Africa, because they are significantly different markets and need quite different models, we can design models with the support of SWM Centro-stile for the Shineray R&D centre in China, to improve the quality and ability.

Starting from 2016 we will enter the Europe Motocross Championship and our target is to use our models and designs to restore the reputation that SWM achieved in the old days.

Q. How does the SWM production line distribution plan work (in terms of sales networks), and which target customers are you focusing on?

A. The SWM range will be distributed through a new and widespread international sales network, taking advantage of the team that used to belong to Husqvarna who have all the know-how to handle the European market and the old SWM and Husqvarna commercial network.

We are going to use our advantages by producing the parts in China to lower down the cost then send the parts to Italy to be assembled, in this way we can sell the product in a lower price range than the likes of KTM.

This project is going to allow the end buyers to pay between 70- and 80-percent of the KTM price but offers same performance characteristics.
