Syn på ZX9r {{forumTopicSubject}}

Hej all,

Sorry to ask in English, hope it is O.K. but please reply in Danish.

I have just become the proud owner of a 20 year old ZX9r, and it needs a little fixing up before it can pass syn.

There are some points that I don't want to fix right now because of cost, so would like to know if it will get through as they are?

The bits that I am concerned about are:

No pass light switch (high and low beam switch works, but the right hand switch gear is missing the actual pass light button).

Front breaks make a horrid noise, but plenty of pad left.

Gear change is difficult from neutral to 1st or 2nd (could be V pricy :(. ).

Exhaust has been repaired with filler, but does not leak at the moment.

Also on the look out for parts for the above :).

Any help with the finer points on what has to be fixed before would be very much appreciated.

#1 19. jun 2014 Lys kontakten ville jeg nok få lavet hvis jeg var dig. Det andet burde ikke være et problem hvis den ellers ikke larmer for meget og er tæt. Går ud fra der er nok belægning på bremseklodserne samt skiven er tyk nok?

#3 19. jun 2014 #2 har skiven de mål den skal have, og er der belægning nok på klodserne er de ligeglade med om den siger lyde.

og at den kan bremse vel og mærke.

Hej Anders, thanks for the advice, that was a very nice possiblility, and makes much more sence than trying to look at selector arms or splitting crank cases. I was a bit supprised to find that mine was very loose, and quite a bit of ware, more than i had expected for a supposed 50km bike (but it could just as well be a random number :)).

It is a pain in the tit to get the switch gear of the handlebar, the electics join the wireing look inside the clocks, so fairing off again. I was kind of hoping to make a new plastic button as it is the only bit missing, ho hum.

Thanks all for the good advice, in what is for me an administrative labarynth ;).

#9 21. jun 2014 @ Martin Yes it is, are you the guy that looked at it before me? There is quite a lot to do to it (Shims, gearshift, rear suspension, all the brakes, steeriing lock, the stuff mentioned previously, the exhaust blew on my way home, and too many small things to list) did you see anything else?

#10 21. jun 2014 Yes it was me looking at it before you. I bought annother yesterday also a zx9r with a little less to do before "syn" i noticed that the brakelight didnt worked and that al three discs must be replaced. So i guess annother 5000kr before it was street legal was a little too mouch.

#12 21. jun 2014 I bought a 95 zx9r in grey blue and black original paint, and nice too. 60000 km. The engine sounds healthy. And i guess the will be no problems with "syn" so for now iam a happy man

#14 23. jun 2014 Hej Martin, good to hear it, will keep an eye out for it, hope you are in KBH, if so might end up pulling you over :).

Thanks Allan, fingers crossed it wont need any more, the weekend cost about 7000 in parts, but now everythign should be as new (Probably not realistic but can hope).

Althouh it would be nice to take a look at MC-Huset as apparently the rear shocks go after this amount of time and that wasnt on the shopping list.

#18 23. jun 2014 Ja og jeg kan bedre lide en ducati 1098 men sådan kan man jo blive ved. Jeg skulle ud og trille med et budget på ca 30000 inkl tøj og hjelm. Så jeg måtte nøjes med en fra 95.

#19 24. jun 2014 Det er godt nok, så kan du bare opgradere om et par år, tro mig, der er stor forskel på de 2 årgange, evt et Dyno Jetkit samt timing retarder, så spiller det.

#20 1. jul 2014 Just to update, the bike went through the syn without comments today. There was no problem not having the pass light switch (now on order).

There was a verbal comment on how my indicator warning light (not the indicators them selves) flashed quickly. It took some time to get it to work at all as the indicators had been replaced with LED lights and needed a couple of new small parts to get a warning light to work as well. But apparently this is not something that will affet the test.

The exhaust pipe repair was fine, but still want to replace it if anyone has a cheap one going, also looking out for a set of locks if anyone has some that fit.

Martin i am still looking forward to seeing a blue zx9 on the streets of Copenhagen :).

jeg er nu ret sikker på, at hvis kontakten er der, så skal den også virke! Problemet er så bare at ikke alle synsmænd er lige strikse. Det er fordelen ved privatiseringen af synshaller! Eller ulempe om man vil

It looks like its in okay condition.
Iam taking mine to syn on friday. Hopefuly with no problems aswell

I am sure yours will go through like a charm and am looking forward to that coffee, i am buying when the exhaust gets through :).
